💿 Recofy
shelved
Reco-fy is a Spotify music controller and display I designed to retain the tactile experience of using a retro record player while still having the convinience of modern music streaming.
Users can rotate a physical knob to skip tracks, adjust volume, or pause music. The top disc spins in sync with playback, and I am working on enabling skipping and rewinding via manual disc spinning.
I built this for the TECS Competition in 2025 within its 4 week time limit.
Key features:
- Hardware: ESP32 microcontroller, rotary encoder for input, and a 3D-printed record player-inspired enclosure.
- Software: E-paper display to show album art, processed via a custom API deployed on Oracle Cloud.
- Functional integration with Spotify's API for seamless WiFi-enabled controls.
This project's focus on design was heavily inspired by Teenage Engineering.
